The Maine Winter Sports Series
Though Maine is best known for summer activities like swimming, boating, and hiking, it’s also a wonderful destination for winter adventures. Maine is blessed (or cursed, as some locals might say) with one of the longest winter seasons in the United States. Frequently, there is snow on the ground from December until April; some of the state’s lakes are still coated with ice until the start of June. It may be cold for months, but all that winter weather provides ample opportunities for skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating, and much more. In a series of articles, we’ll share some of the best outdoor activities to make the cold weather pass by faster.
